Making game worlds in the world with young people workshops

Workshops and Participation are terms that connect to the concept of engagement. What do others hope to gain from attending a workshop, and how do you manage and generate Participation. Some knowledgeable actions are acquired by participants who learn developmental outcomes. With this in mind, Camp Get Together has completed its Winter programme of events in Doncaster with young people. Part of the notion of Camp is that for the moments of its undertaking, those within the camp magic circle are in a world unlike the world of Doncaster outside of Camp. To this end, many activities sought to generate fantastical environments and worlds for young people to develop, populate, and inhabit. It moved from sketches and drawings to embodiments and manifesting, from Minecraft Cosplay to fantastical mythological beasts through exquisite corpse gameplay and mask making. Using also digital design processes but in an analogue manner. So for Minecraft, the cardboard is like the white boxing in 3d environments, and the skins, they stick on are like texture mapping. The clay became gameful through the application of rules, so it was done with eyes closed and timed and in response to a suggestion, so there is uncertainty too. It used materials from cardboard to clay. It used ideas from games and other creative disciplines. While it was mostly in one room, that room straddled a number of innovative portals that could lead to numerous exciting outcomes, all made by the young people involved (and their very creative and hands-on parents).
